Current Volunteer Opportunities:
- Packing Help -- A Frederick family will be moving to a new home and they need help packing. (The actual move is already covered.) Can you spare some time in June to help pack boxes and prepare for the move? Flexible times, the family will work with the volunteers' availability. Contact Shauna at SClay@arcfc.org for details.
- Moving Help -- Help a Brunswick family move to a new house, just a few blocks from their current home, in June. This would be a great volunteer activity for a group. Contact Shauna at 301-663-0909 x40.
- Tutors for Middle and High School Students -- Would you like to help a young person with reading and comprehension? The volunteers would tutor in the students' homes. Contact Shauna for details.
- Driver's Ed Assistant -- An individual we serve is looking for a volunteer to drive her from her Walkersville home to a driving school in Frederick and back, and assist her during the class. The class runs for 2 consecutive weeks, Monday-Friday. Contact Shauna at 301-663-0909 for additional details.
- Drivers wanted! Many of the individuals we support need a ride to get to and from medical appointments, self advocacy meetings, and adult education classes. If you are able to help out with transportation, please contact Shauna Clay at 301-663-0909 ext.40 or email her at SClay@arcfc.org for a volunteer application. Good driving record required.

We need volunteers to help at our front desk! We are looking for volunteers to assist us at our front desk to greet visitors and transfer incoming phone calls. We can always use additional volunteers for on-call backup coverage (great for someone with other commitments who is only available to fill in). No experience is necessary, but the ability to maintain confidentiality is a must. Professional personal presentation, please. Please contact Shauna Clay at 301-663-0909 ext.40 or email her at SClay@arcfc.org for a volunteer application and for more information.
- Volunteers for our monthly Parents' Day Out Program -- One Saturday per month, August through June we provide 4 hours of respite time for parents and children. This is a great opportunity for teens, college students, and adults to help children with disabilities while having a lot of fun in a supervised setting. Please contact Shauna at 301-663-0909 ext. 40 for information about volunteering at Parents' Day Out.
- Do you enjoy sharing your time and activities? You will meet someone who shares your interests and would enjoy going with you to the movies, concerts, shopping, the library or sight seeing. You may simply relax with a picnic and a visit to a local park. Friendships are welcome!
-
Volunteer to share your expertise. Volunteer mentors are always appreciated! Could you help someone learn about your favorite hobby or skill? Any life skill that you would like to share with another could be helpful. You do not need to be a professional in the area, just if you have a working knowledge. Some examples are:
- Cooking skills
- Computer skills
- Photography
- Art
- Budgeting
