The Arc of Frederick County's Show Choir Competition

Saturday, April 28 - 7:00 PM

International Community Church - Byte Drive, Frederick (just off Hayward Road)  

Show Choirs are creating a lot of buzz in our community and we want to invite you to see what it is all about.  On April 28th, The Arc of Frederick County, with PNC as an Event Sponsor, is hosting a Show Choir Competition among area schools at International Community Church (formerly Maranatha) at 7:00 PM.   Doors open at 6:00 PM.

Audience members will have a chance to vote for their favorite participating schools.  The winning school will receive a prize and additional proceeds will benefit The Arc of Frederick County.

Get your tickets today!   Each ticket is $5.00 in advance.  At the door, tickets will be $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for students.  You can also puchase "Shoutout Lines" for $10 (up to 15 words) and Full or Half Page Ads for $100 or $60.

Russell Beaton, Curriculum Specialist for Visual and Performing arts for FCPS, will be our Master of Ceremonies. 

Participating Schools Include:

The Banner School:  Shake, Rattle, and Roll to The Banner School Middle School who will be presenting selections from their production of "Grease Jr."!  Students from 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grades join together to perform various songs from the hit 50's style musical.  The Banner School has an exciting and thriving performing arts program. Students perform in class musicals beginning in Kindergarten all the way through 8th grade.  The Banner students will be proud to showcase their dynamic program and look forward to performing their muscial, "Grease Jr." at school and in the Frederick community!

Monocacy Middle School:  Pizzazz Show Choir is an exclusive dancing and singing ensemble, full of students in 7th and 8th grade from Monocacy Middle School.  These girls have been working toward many goals, not only for specific performances, but to as a group flourish in talent, skill, and companionship.  The directors of this group strive to accomplish all-around excellence from the girls.  They work on team building exercises, vocal training exercises, dance skills, performance etiquette, confidence builders, and the overall "Pizzazz package."  Pizzazz Show Choir encourages new students to audition every year.  Pizzazz Show Choir is perceived as role models to the students of the school for their academics, talent, courageousness, and PIZZAZZ!

Urbana High School:  The Urbana High School Show Choir "Soaring Sensation" has been in existence for 14 years.  This un-auditioned ensemble is a class directed by Monika McCormick at Urbana High School. This year's auditioned choreographers include Avlenne Barnes, Ariel Pannell-Carter and Katharine Tobler.  "Soaring Sensation" members have competed in many areas of the country at show choir competitions including New York City, Gatlinburg, Boston, Williamsburg, and most recently was a featured group in Disney World, Florida.  Many members of this ensemble are also members of the concert choir and Chamber Ensemble at UHS and have been members of the All-County and All-State choruses in Maryland.

Walkersville High School:  The Walkersville High School Show Choir is in its inaugural year.  This student-directed ensemble is comprised of fifteen students ranging from freshmen to seniors.  The music director is Junior Alex Ruth and the choreographer is Junior Jessica Maxey.  Songs are selected by the students and rehearsals are held after school.  The group performed during the WHS Winter Music Concert this year, and was proud to represent WHS at the FCPS 2012 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration.
