We are proud of these accomplishments of Fiscal Year 2006. We look forward to continuing our excellent work in the upcoming year.

1. Coordination of a cooking class with volunteer chef (Chef Buck Reed) that provided training to over 30 adults with developmental disabilities on nutritional meal preparation.

2. Outreach to families of children with autism to assist them obtaining in home supports, respite care and other specialized therapies to prevent out of home placements.

3. The creation of a formal partnership with Frederick County Public Schools' Success Program that is paving the way for creative employment opportunities for people with disabilities as they prepare to exit school and enter the workforce

4. Continued provision of free monthly respite care program, facilitated by Arc staff and volunteers.

5. Development and training related to a Transitioning Youth Portfolio that was distributed to all local high schools to help students receiving special education plan for post graduation services. Arc staff have presented trainings to representatives from around the state so that these portfolios are now available state-wide and county specific.

6. Short term case management/support coordination services and financial assistance for children and their families to locate respite care, obtain adaptive equipment, and purchase needed medical care, not covered by insurance.

7. Collaboration with the school system and Hood College to create a semester long leadership course for students with disabilities on the college campus.

8. Facility and staff support for support groups including: Working Together Self-Advocacy Group, FRIENDS, the Autism Support Group and a series of ongoing sibling workshops.

9. Increase in volunteer support for fundraising events and also for one-to-one companionships with children and adults. Total volunteer assistance increased from 613 in Fiscal Year 2005 to 817 in Fiscal Year 2006.

10. Collaborative effort with Adult Education/Flexible Evening High to provide classes for 11 adults that help them maintain basic academic skills. Arc staff provide assistance with registration, transportation and implementing lessons into real life situations.

11. Continued partnership with the Delaplaine Visual Arts Center to provide an Art Class for adults both for enjoyment and as an avenue to express thoughts and feelings. Our efforts led to a month long exhibition where class participants' art work was on community display for visitors of the Delaplaine.

12. Provision of funding conduit services with state Developmental Disabilities Administration funding for 160 individuals.

13. Significant increase of donations and in-kind items needed by families and individuals and also to offset the cost of events.

14. Initiation of an Estate Planning Project to assist families in planning for the future needs of their child with a disability
